Hotels.com

The World’s Longest URL

Hotels.com had a problem.

(Like a problem so serious you have to write “they had a problem” in italics at the top of a portfolio project page type of problem)

No, the problem wasn’t a goat hoof to the chassis of their iconic spokesman—that was the solution, actually. See, after becoming famous for making the fact that they have hotels rather obviousHotels.com wanted to tell the world they booked more than just hotels. Naturally, we followed their north star of obviousnessessnesses and I nearly had a mental breakdown rewriting their name to include every other type of accommodation they offer in an equally obvious way (seriously, read the URL. It’s insane).

Oh, and we officially created the world's longest URL in the process.  Then, we forced Captain Obvious to memorize that URL and say it all in one take. Nice!

CUE PRESS LINKS: Creativity, Adweek, LBB, Stimulant, Design

It also became the world’s longest IG story.

Naturally.

Which people…liked.

…Naturally.

Next, to put our accommodation money where our URL mouth was, we followed this up by creating Hotels.com’s first campaign highlighting some of those other properties.

Luckily for us and lovers of dental conventions everywhere, the campaign was a success, driving alternate accommodation searches on the site while also becoming a Creativity Pick of the Day.
